Business equipment provider Digicom has signed a €480,000 deal to supply digital signs to retail chain 3G.
Under the terms of the agreement, which was finalised last month, Digicom has installed 112 portrait-mounted Sony LCD screens in 283 G stores around the country.

All 112 Sony FWD-40LX2 Commercial Display Screens are managed via a centralised signage management system in 3G’s head office in Dublin.
‘‘With the new system in place, the stores will be able to change their in-store advertisements and direct messages to customers in real time, with each one changing depending on store location or time of day,” said Greg Clarke, managing director of Digicom.
‘‘Our investment in digital signage four years ago and the development of our own bespoke software continue to give us a clear edge when designing and specifying best of class dynamic signage solutions.”
Tony Boyle, managing director of 3G, said the investment was in keeping with the range of digital products stocked by the chain.
‘‘We have a big commitment to helping our customers get the best out of all of the digital devices and appliances they buy from us,’’ Boyle said. ‘‘This means we invest not only in staff training but also in the latest in-store communications technology.
‘‘Digicom helped us to meet demanding specifications, because it is not just about having screens in each shop, but making sure we have another first-class communications channel to help us deliver more added value to our customers.”
Established in 1997, Digicom employs 32 staff and has annual revenues of €6.4 million. Its range of audiovisual and business equipment includes video-conferencing, document management software, printer, scanner and photocopier hardware and integrated print audit solutions.
Earlier this month, the company completed work on a complete software solution, incorporating Laserfiche document management software, for insurance provider 123.ie.
Sony sells audio, video, communications and information technology products for consumers and businesses. The company’s sales for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2007, totalled €55.83 billion. It employs 163,000 people worldwide.
